Alison McGlynn

Master Stylist | Salon Development

Experience and Skills:
I’ve been licensed since 2002 (whoa 🙂 ) I received my cosmetology instructor’s license in 2003

I specialize in gray blending, lived-in color, Vidal Sassoon precision cutting, color correction, shags, and pixies and I’m a certified straight razor blade cutter! But honestly… I love it all.

Training and education:
I’ve traveled all over the world learning! Here’s where: Douglas Aveda Institute in East Lansing (formal education), Vidal Sassoon in Chicago, Dylan Bradshaw in Dublin Ireland, Arojjo in New York City (SoHo), Professional Beauty in London England, ISSE in Long Beach California, ISSE in Chicago, along with many in salon education experiences from: Aveda, Wella, Goldwell, Redken and more. I’m certified in Grey Blending, Hotheads and Hair Dreams Hair Extensions, Arrojo razor cutting, and countless cutting and hair coloring techniques.

What do you love most about Headliners?
It’s twofold… our clients and our team!

Headliners clients (and not just mine) are the very best, we consider them family. We’ve been through every major milestone in life together over the past 20 years. I want my clients to know that I’m always here to make them look and feel their best through everything life throws their way.

We have an incredible team. Coming to work is always fun, and I get to work with my best friends! We also have a powerful mentor and role model in Joan McGivern, our owner. I love that we’ve been in Jackson for over forty years and that she’s always there to lend an ear or teach a new trick!

What do you love to do most at Headliners?
Obviously, I love doing hair and spending time with my beautiful clients and dedicated team.

I’m honored to work with the emerging artists and apprentices at Headliners. Educating and mentoring brings me so much joy. We have a lot of fun learning and they teach me a lot, too.

What are your passions?
I love to travel. I gain inspiration from every city I visit and the people I meet along the way. Fashion, design, architecture, and nature are such an important influence on our industry. I’m grateful to have a career that has given me so many opportunities to adventure.

I’m also a book nerd, I love to read and snuggle my golden retrievers.

Oh, and after 40 years of avoiding anything to do with professional sports, I have become hopelessly in love with the Philadelphia Eagles. I didn’t have that on my bingo card of Alison’s life but GO BIRDS

What’s your favorite product, and why?
Confixor, always and forever. It’s so versatile and good for all hair types. It’s the foundation of every style I create.

What Question do you get asked most often by clients? And what is your advice to them in response?
“Why can’t I do my own hair!” To which I say: You can! Let me show you!
